SCHOOL HISTORY

“Rome wasn’t built in one day” so they say. Every milestone and feather in one’s head demands the highest level of resolve, fortitude, and commitment. History taught us that such are the fundamental elements necessary in building an organization, a nation, and perhaps, a civilization. For an organization to savor the sweetest fruit of success, it has to work as one, dance to the same tune and sing with harmony in unison. Such synchronicity depicts oneness of vision and mission to its objectives and goals. No matter how far the journey would be, its embodiment could stand to the test of time.

As an institution craving its own identity, Leon C. Arcillas National High School confronted not a few roadblocks on its journey towards its autonomy. It painstakingly evolved from Aplaya National High School – Annex (APEX) or Applied Academics for Excellence through the magnanimity of the late City Mayor Leon C. Arcillas. Armed with his keen foresight,  innovative mind, and compassionate heart, he marshaled crucial resources that would cater the needs of Batang Rosenians for a free quality education. It was established in 2002 as part of SEAMEO INNOTECH’s program, which trained the school’s founding academic members.

Upon its inception, the school thrived under the wings of its mother school-Aplaya NHS-Main. Like a flower that blossomed in spring, it metamorphosized into an institution that excelled in both co-curricular and extra-curricular activities  and stood among the shoulders of various prestigious school in the city. Its sigil of excellence and stellar record as an educational institution paved the way for parents from surrounding barangays to enroll their children in Leon C. Arcillas National High School. Since then, it has undergone rapid enrolment growth.

To live up to its commitment in adhering to the basic thrusts of the Department of Education, Leon C. Arcillas National High School, being a student-centered school strives to provide a welcoming and nurturing atmosphere for its students by acknowledging each child’s individual skills and offers multi-level and interdisciplinary training to lay a firm foundation for their holistic development.

Despite being bombarded by different barriers in some facets of the school operations, LCANHS continues to provide the finest quality education possible to Batang Rosenians by abiding to its philosophy of service, resilience, and excellence. In the midst of its battle cry for more classrooms, a distinct identity, and a name of its own, the school, along with the former and current administration and stakeholders particularly the local government, continued to forge projects that accelerated efforts for the school to accomplish its objectives and goals. The granting of school site in 2023 plus the recent separation from the mother school and its naming to Leon C. Arcillas NHS highlighted the historic ascent to new heights.

As LCANHS continues to navigate the difficult path to excellence, guided by the institution’s dedicated and committed faculty, the school administration, and with the tutelage and stewardship of the upper echelon from the Department of Education, it commits to carrying out the DepEd Vision and Mission in honing students to become responsible citizens as the precursor for solid nation building. Similarly,  the school and its stakeholders unceasingly seek to uphold the ideals of inclusivity, in which each learner is appreciated and encouraged to exercise their own beliefs based on their personality, culture, and uniqueness. As such, it is and will always be an institution that respects all religions and is sensitive to the needs of students of all ethnicities, cultures, cultural backgrounds, and socioeconomic statuses.

As the school embraces the future, its challenges and uncertainties, it remains true to its principles of nurturing young minds, instilling service, resilience, and excellence in serving the country, and fostering a Filipino character worthy of emulation by the current and future generations.
